The U.S. Worldwide Commerce Fee (ITC) has made its final decision in an antidumping and countervailing responsibility (AD/CVD) investigation regarding battery elements — American anode materials producers should not being injured by Chinese language imports.
The ITC’s destructive dedication negates the flexibility of the Dept. of Commerce and Customs and Border Safety from initiating tariffs on energetic anode materials (AAM) from China.
The AD/CVD investigation was requested in December 2024 by American Lively Anode Materials Producers (AAAMP), a bunch of startup corporations attempting to provoke home manufacturing of AAM, a mandatory element in lithium batteries used within the vitality storage and EV markets. AAAMP claimed that China’s dominance on AAM manufacturing has prevented the home market from establishing aggressive operations. The ITC initially made an affirmative dedication in January 2025 that imported energetic anode materials from China was harming the U.S. trade, however the fee has now modified its thoughts.
Of the three-person fee, two voted destructive whereas one voted within the affirmative. Commerce won’t concern an antidumping responsibility order or a countervailing responsibility order on imports of AAM from China.
