After a dizzying week of escalating tariffs between the US and China, the U.S. authorities issued exemptions on smartphones, semiconductors and different electronics, together with one photo voltaic product: photo voltaic panel frames.
The tariff back-and-forth began with President Trump’s “liberation day” announcement on April 2, which finally drew focus particularly to China. In a late Friday announcement, the federal government issued an inventory of exclusions from the reciprocal tariffs, which largely centered on client electronics. Nearly all smartphones, computer systems or different units are made in China or Asia, and these exclusions to the tariffs would offer aid to American tech giants like Apple.
Included within the tariff exemptions is the HTS heading 8541.90 for digital “elements,” which photo voltaic panel frames have usually been categorized below. Photo voltaic panel frames are the aluminum or metal framing that finishes a photo voltaic panel.
No different photo voltaic merchandise have been particularly known as out within the electronics exclusion.
